Session 1– This 2-hour session is where clients get off to a strong start. Katie will walk them through the dos and don’ts of college admissions essays, help them brainstorm topics, choose a topic, and guide them through an introductory paragraph: the most important part of the admissions essay. Instruction is capped at 4 clients per session to ensure individual attention.

  • Q: I’ve already started my essay. Why do I need session 1?
  • A: Students are often eager to pursue the first topic that comes to mind. However, this is rarely advisable. Clients will greatly benefit from an experienced professional helping them sift through their ideas and pick the strongest one. The rest of the writing process is much easier when starting with a strong topic.

Session 2– This 2-hour session is where Katie will meet with clients after they’ve drafted their essay. Here, they will revise, edit, and polish with Katie’s feedback and guidance. Instruction is capped at 4 clients per session to ensure individual attention.

Final Look– After session 2, clients will e-mail Katie their finished essay. She will look it over once more and provide final feedback. After this, the essay is ready to submit!

Location– Standard Group workshops are offered in Grosse Pointe and the Troy / Rochester area. They will be conducted in public places such as a library, coffee shop, etc. More specific location information will be available as the public reopens. In the event that state restrictions are still in place, sessions will be done via videoconference. For clients seeking the Individual or Discount Group options, Katie will come to the location that best suits you.
